A 24-year-old Russian actress, Kamilla Belyatskaya, has tragically lost her life while practising yoga on Koh Samui, a popular tourist island in Thailand.
The accident occurred at the Lad Ko Viewpoint when a powerful wave swept her off her yoga mat and into the turbulent waters of the Gulf of Thailand.
Heartbreaking footage shows the moment the wave engulfed Belyatskaya. Despite a bystander’s brave attempt to save her, the strong currents proved overwhelming. Her yoga mat was later found floating in the rough seas.
Belyatskaya, originally from Novosibirsk, Russia’s third-largest city, was visiting Koh Samui with her boyfriend. She was a frequent visitor to the island, which she often described as her “home” and “the best place on earth.”
The Lad Ko Viewpoint, where the tragedy unfolded, was one of her favourite locations, as evidenced by her social media posts.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and issued warnings to tourists, urging them to exercise extreme caution, particularly during the monsoon season.
