Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, has alleged that certain individuals are benefiting from Boko Haram’s insurgent activities and are unwilling for the conflict to end.
In an interview with BBC Hausa, the governor expressed concern about those sabotaging efforts to combat the insurgency in the Northeast and Chad, as they are profiting from the ongoing crisis.
“There are people who do not want this insecurity to end because it does not serve their interests,” he remarked.
While acknowledging progress in the fight against the insurgency, Governor Zulum raised alarm over Boko Haram members returning to the region after being expelled from Chad.
He urged citizens to unite and support security forces in tackling the Boko Haram threat effectively.
However, the governor refrained from explicitly naming those he accused of benefiting from the insecurity.
