Retired Military Personnel Protest Non-Payment of Pensions in Abuja

Retired military personnel under the Coalition of Concerned Veterans (CCV) staged a protest on Wednesday in the Federal Capital Territory, demanding the immediate payment of their pensions and other outstanding entitlements.

The ex-servicemen disrupted activities at the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Federal Secretariat, using music and banners to voice their grievances.

Their demands included the payment of the 28 per cent increment that has been outstanding since January, the settlement of the three-month palliative and the N32,000 flat rate increase introduced in July, and bulk SDA payments using a revised template regardless of the year of retirement. They also called for the review and passage of the VFN bill to align with global best practices.

Speaking to SaharaReporters, a representative of the ex-servicemen appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene and direct the military authorities to expedite the payment of their pensions.
