Nigerian singer Inetimi Alfred Odon, better known as Timaya, has shared his honest views on marriage and fatherhood. Despite having four children with three different women, the 44-year-old musician remains unmarried.
Timaya, renowned for hits like “Dem Mama,” has fathered two daughters, Emmanuella and Gracey, with Barbara Fumnaya Nwaokolo, a son, Emmanuel, with Tamar, and a daughter, Maya, with Dunnie Onasanya.
In a recent interview with Naija FM, Timaya revealed his aversion to marriage, stating: “I have never been a marriage kind of guy right from time, but it can change. If I marry today and the girl disturbs me, I can get out of the marriage. In all my previous relationships, I was the one who got out because I don’t like stress.
“If you have a problem with me, let’s talk about it because I don’t like going to bed thinking about things. I don’t like anything to bother me at all.”
Timaya also discussed the joys and challenges of fatherhood. While his children primarily reside with their mothers, he prioritises quality time with them, often spending extended periods together.
He acknowledged the inherent stress of fatherhood but expressed immense love for his children.
He said: “Being a father is very good but stressful because you love them too much. “They all live with their mothers, but when I want to see them, I tell their mothers. So, I will go to pick them, and they all spend time with me. They spend two to three months with me, then go back to their mothers. During Christmas, they also stay with me.”
