Two Suspected Gunrunners Arrested in Kaduna

Operatives of the 47 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron in Zaria, Kaduna State, have apprehended two suspects believed to be involved in illegal arms trafficking.

The arrest occurred during a routine patrol along the Zaria-Jos Road on Friday, 6 December 2024, following credible intelligence. Police intercepted and detained the suspects, identified as 40-year-old Zubairu Musa and 17-year-old Nasiru Saidu, both residents of Kankara Local Government Area, Katsina State.

A search of their belongings uncovered a bag containing eight locally made pump-action guns, one locally made pistol, and sixty-five live cartridges.

Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects were engaged in the illicit firearms trade. The police are actively pursuing their accomplices and working to dismantle the broader gunrunning network operating in the state.

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Abdullahi, praised the officers for their swift action and reaffirmed the force’s dedication to maintaining law and order. He also urged the public to stay vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the police.
