Gunmen attacked and killed a clergyman in the Jerbanbur area of Jalingo, Taraba State.
According to the State Police Command spokesperson, Abdullahi Usman, the assailants opened fire on the clergyman and fled the scene without taking anything or kidnapping anyone else in the house.
The victim, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment.
The police described the attack as unusual, as gunmen in the area typically kidnap victims for ransom. Authorities have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
The police extended their condolences to the victim’s family and assured them that efforts are underway to bring the culprits to justice.
