Police Rescue Kidnap Victims in Taraba After Gunfight

Taraba State Police Command operatives rescued three kidnapped victims after a fierce gun battle in Sibre village, Ardo-Kola Local Government Area.

In a statement released on Sunday, December 8th, 2024, Police Spokesperson Abdullahi Usman said the rescue operation was launched following a distress call. A team from the Jalingo Area Command, in collaboration with local vigilantes, pursued the kidnappers to Dutse Mubayu near the Kona Mountains.

A gunfight ensued, but the superior firepower of the police and vigilantes forced the kidnappers to flee, leaving behind the victims.

The rescued individuals, identified as Idris Adamu (40), Umar Usman (22), and Ibrahim Usman (17), were unharmed and reunited with their families.

Commending the officers and vigilantes, Commissioner of Police Ukachi P. Opara urged the public to remain calm and report suspicious activities to the police. He also provided toll-free emergency numbers to facilitate prompt response to security threats.
