German President to Arrive Nigeria on State Visit to Strengthen Ties

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is scheduled to arrive in Nigeria on Tuesday, 10 December, for a two-day state visit, according to the German Embassy in Nigeria.

During his visit, President Steinmeier will engage in discussions with Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, Alieu Omar Touray.

Following his engagements in Abuja, Steinmeier will travel to Lagos, where he will meet with business leaders, visit a start-up hub, and interact with members of Nigeria’s cultural and civil society sectors.

The Embassy noted that President Steinmeier will be accompanied by a business delegation comprising CEOs and senior executives from some of Germany’s leading companies in IT, high-tech, and energy. This reflects the growing interest of German businesses in investment opportunities in Nigeria.

“This visit sends a strong signal: Nigeria is an important political, economic, and cultural partner of Germany in Africa,” the statement emphasised.
