The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, visited Afe Babalola, a distinguished legal luminary and founder of Afe Babalola University, at his office in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Monday, December 8.
The visit was connected to the defamation case involving human rights lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi.

Farotimi had been arraigned last week before a Magistrate’s Court in Ado-Ekiti following a petition filed by Afe Babalola over alleged defamatory statements in his book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Judicial System.
On Monday, a High Court in Ekiti granted Farotimi bail set at ₦50 million. However, the defamation trial continued yesterday, December 9, at a Magistrate’s Court in the state.
