A tragic incident occurred in Covina, California, United States, where a five-year-old girl was mauled and killed by two family dogs.
The attack happened at the couple’s $2 million home, with the dogs identified as a 10-year-old Rottweiler and a six-year-old Rottweiler/Weimaraner mix.
The girl, who had reportedly been around the dogs her entire life, is suspected to be the couple’s daughter, although this information has not been publicly confirmed.
According to Sheriff’s Lieutenant Steve De Jong, “She fell. They (the Rottweiler and Rottweiler mix) immediately started attacking her.” The girl’s father tried to shield her by diving on top of her but was unable to prevent the attack.
The child sustained severe injuries to her neck and head and was rushed to hospital, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries.
In addition to the attacking dogs, the couple owns a 10-year-old Weimaraner and a four-year-old Doberman, neither of which were involved in the incident.
The couple was later seen leading their dogs away from the property.
