In a bold operation, Nigerian Army troops from the 63 Brigade successfully rescued four individuals who had been held captive by kidnappers in Ugbolu Forest, Delta State. The operation, conducted on Monday, December 9, 2024, involved a fierce gun battle with the criminal gang.
According to a statement released by Major Emmanuel Onoja, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, on X (formerly Twitter), the troops, acting on credible intelligence, stormed the kidnappers’ hideout. The ensuing confrontation resulted in the rescue of the hostages, who were promptly provided with medical attention before being reunited with their families.


The victims had reportedly been held captive for several days, with the kidnappers demanding substantial ransom payments for their release. However, the timely intervention of the Nigerian Army thwarted the criminals’ plans.
The Nigerian Army has reiterated its commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of citizens. The 63 Brigade, in particular, remains dedicated to eradicating all forms of criminality within its area of responsibility.
