Isak Andic, the renowned Spanish billionaire and founder of the global fashion chain Mango, tragically died in a mountain accident on 14th December 2024.
The 71-year-old businessman slipped and fell from a 150-metre cliff while hiking with his family in the Montserrat caves near Barcelona. Emergency services were alerted at around 12:30 pm local time, but despite the efforts of a helicopter and ambulance team, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Andic was widely regarded as one of Spain’s wealthiest individuals, with Forbes estimating his net worth at $4.5 billion.
The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, expressed his condolences to Andic’s family and praised his significant contributions to the fashion industry, noting how he transformed Mango into a global leader.
Toni Ruiz, Mango’s CEO, described Andic’s death as unexpected and paid tribute to his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the company’s values.
Mango’s official statement honoured Andic’s legacy and pledged to continue his vision for the company.
it said: “His departure leaves a huge void but all of us are, in some way, his legacy and the testimony of his achievements.
“It is up to us, and this is the best tribute we can make to Isak and which we will fulfil, to ensure that Mango continues to be the project that Isak aspired to and of which he would feel proud.”
