Ogun State Police Command has arrested a truck driver, Olalere Timileyin, and his motor boy in connection with the death of a man who was allegedly assaulted for stealing a tarpaulin.
The incident occurred in Obada Oko, Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state. According to police spokesperson SP Omolola Odutola, a report was filed by one Alao Fadipe of Iyana Ikereku at about 3 AM on Friday, 13th December. Fadipe claimed to have witnessed Timileyin and his motor boy assaulting the victim, who later succumbed to his injuries.
The injured man was rushed to the State Hospital, Ijaye, but unfortunately passed away during treatment. His body has been taken to the morgue for a post-mortem examination.
The arrested suspects are currently being interrogated, and efforts are underway to contact the deceased’s family. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCIID) in Eleweran for further investigation.
The Ogun State Police Command has urged the public to refrain from engaging in violent confrontations and to maintain peace during the festive season and beyond.
