A 33-year-old woman, Dreanna Booker, was allegedly killed by her husband, Pierre J. French, at their home in Elgin, Illinois, USA, on 7 December, just weeks before their divorce was set to be finalised on 1 January 2025.
Booker’s body was discovered around 1 a.m. in the 700 block of Bluff City Boulevard. The suspect, 36-year-old French, was taken into custody shortly after the incident, police reported.
Speaking to ABC7, Booker’s family described her as an inspirational and loving individual. “She meant a lot,” said her niece, Zahnae Scott. “She was a real inspirational person.”

Booker’s brother, Thomas Mitchell, said, “We want justice for my baby. Everything else we’re putting in God’s hands.”
Court records revealed that Booker had filed an emergency order of protection against French in July. The couple’s six children, aged 1 to 14, are now left without either parent.
“She meant the world to her kids,” said Tayvion, Booker’s nephew. “Nobody could take her kids away from her, and we’re going to forever have her kids every day.”
French faces first-degree murder charges and is due in court in Kane County on Wednesday, 18 December.
