Delta Police Arrest Man for Alleged Kidnapping and Ritual Murder of Eight-Year-Old Boy

Officers from the Delta State Police Command have arrested a man named Destiny Lawrence on suspicion of kidnapping an eight-year-old boy and delivering him to a native doctor who subsequently murdered the child and harvested his organs.

Addressing the media, Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda revealed that the father of the deceased, a resident of Owa-Alero (name withheld), reported his eight-year-old son, Progress Ifeanyi, missing. The father stated that the last known interaction with his son involved Destiny Lawrence, a regular customer at their shop, who had taken the child away.

“Upon realising his son was missing, the father questioned Destiny, who denied any knowledge of the child’s whereabouts. Later that day, the boy’s body was discovered in an unfinished building, with several body parts missing. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Destiny,” stated CP Abaniwonda.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed that a native doctor known as Jonah from Otolokpo community had contracted him to procure a young boy for the sum of thirty thousand naira (₦30,000).

The Commissioner further explained that the suspect lured the deceased to the location where the native doctor was waiting. The native doctor then took the child to an unfinished building and slit his throat.

CP Abaniwonda stated that the suspect is currently in police custody while a manhunt for the fleeing native doctor is underway.
