FG Declares Public Holidays for Christmas and New Year: 25th, 26th December 2024 and 1st January 2025

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, 25th December 2024 (Christmas Day), Thursday, 26th December 2024 (Boxing Day), and Wednesday, 1st January 2025 (New Year’s Day) as public holidays.

The announcement was made by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, in a statement released on Monday, 23rd December 2024, in Abuja.

Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government, extended his warm greetings to all Nigerians. He urged citizens to use the festive season as an opportunity for reflection on the values of love, peace, and unity that Christmas signifies.

The Minister emphasised the importance of fostering harmony and strengthening bonds within families and communities during this time. He also called upon Nigerians to remain dedicated to the peace, unity, and progress of the nation for national development.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo stated: “The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences.”

The Minister assured citizens that the Federal Government remains committed to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity across the nation.

The statement concluded by expressing the Minister’s confidence in the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Tinubu’s Administration, stating that it will usher in a new year of economic prosperity for Nigeria.
