Officers from the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 45-year-old man, Taiwo Yemitan, for the alleged possession of a fresh human head and other body parts in Lafenwa, Abeokuta.
Yemitan was apprehended at his residence behind Atinsola filling station in the early hours of Sunday, 22nd December 2024, following a tip-off from local security organisations.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest in a statement. Yemitan confessed to luring a female victim, identified as Darasimi, to his residence with the intention of killing her. He admitted to the murder and named two accomplices, Kehinde Yemitan and an individual known as Kazeem, stating their intention was to sell the victim’s body parts.
The statement read: “The suspect admitted to knowing the deceased identified as Darasimi, who he lured to his residence with the intent to kill her. He confessed to the murder, naming two other individuals, Kehinde Yemitan and one Kazeem, second name unknown as accomplices in the criminal act. Their intention was to sell the victim’s head and other body parts.”
The dismembered body has been taken to the Ijaye General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
The police are actively pursuing the arrest of Yemitan’s accomplices and are working to locate the victim’s relatives.
Yemitan will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
