Nigerian National Brutally Murdered in South Africa

Chinedu Stanley Asuzu, brother of the late Nollywood actor Ernest Asuzu, was tragically shot and killed by armed men at his home in Johannesburg South on 16th December 2024.

The Nigerian Union South Africa (NUSA) confirmed the incident, condemning the murder of the father-of-four and expressing support for his grieving family. NUSA President-General, Hon. Smart Nwobi, is investigating the incident and liaising with South African authorities.

Reports suggest that Chinedu was involved in divorce proceedings with his estranged South African wife, Busisiwe Sibanyoni, amid allegations of financial mismanagement.

A witness account suggests that Sibanyoni visited Chinedu’s home to collect their children shortly before the shooting occurred.

Concerns have been raised about Sibanyoni’s alleged refusal to release Chinedu’s body, with claims that she fears potential repercussions from his family.

A Nigerian citizen, Mr Ade, has appealed to the Nigerian embassy and the public to intervene, urging Sibanyoni to release Chinedu’s body for a proper burial.

NUSA is actively working with authorities to ensure a thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
