Lakurawa Terrorists Kill Two Policemen, Rustle Over 200 Cows in Kebbi

Armed gunmen suspected to be members of the Lakurawa terrorist group attacked Natsini village in Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State on Thursday night, 2nd January, killing two policemen and rustling over 200 cows.

The incident occurred around 11pm when a large group of over 50 gunmen, riding motorcycles, ambushed a police checkpoint along the Augie/Kangiwa road. After overpowering the officers, the gunmen proceeded to a nearby ranch and stole a significant number of cows belonging to a prominent civil servant, Lawali Black.

Abubakar Augie, a local resident, confirmed the attack, stating that the gunmen overwhelmed the police officers and then proceeded to steal the cattle.

Aliyu Gulma, the Argungu Local Government Chairman, confirmed the incident and stated that a security meeting was underway. He also mentioned that the state government had directed security agencies to recover the stolen livestock.

SP Nafiu Abubakar, the police command public relations officer, confirmed the deaths of the two policemen during an encounter with the gunmen. He stated that joint operations involving police and other security agencies have been intensified to apprehend the bandits and recover the stolen cows.

The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Bello M Sani, visited the scene of the attack and met with the Emir of Argungu as part of the ongoing investigation.
