Gunmen Abduct Nigerian University Professor in Kogi, Demand N10 Million Ransom

Professor John Ebeh, a lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) in Anyigba, Kogi State, has been abducted by suspected gunmen in Agbeji, a suburb of Anyigba in Dekina Local Government Area.

An eyewitness, Akpai, recalled the incident, stating: “The hoodlums operated in a commando manner..It was swift. We noticed a car trailing him furiously; we took it as one of his friends or colleagues, not until we started hearing gunshots around his gate.”

A family source confirmed that the professor was near his home when the masked gunmen ambushed him on Thursday evening.

“Professor Ebeh was almost at the gate of his house at Agbeji, on his way from the town when the incident happened. Amidst the confusion, someone drove in furiously and blocked his car. Some masked people alighted from the vehicle and whisked him away at gunpoint.”

The source further disclosed that the kidnappers made contact with the family on Friday evening, demanding a ransom of N10 million.

Although the university has not yet issued a public statement, a colleague expressed shock over the abduction, saying: “I have just visited his family to sympathise with them.”
