Justice K. B. Olawoyin of the Oyo State High Court has adjourned the ruling on the bail applications of Olori Naomi Silekunola, Alhaji Oriyomi Hazmat, and Abdulahi Fasasi until Tuesday, 13th January 2025.
The trio were arrested and remanded in prison custody in December 2024 following a stampede at a children’s funfair they organised in Ibadan, which tragically resulted in the deaths of 35 children.
Counsel for Olori Silekunola, represented by Musibau Adetunmbi (SAN), Alhaji Hazmat, represented by Adekunle Sobaloju (SAN), and Abdulahi Fasasi, represented by Waheed Olajide, filed bail applications before the court, arguing that their clients should be released as there is insufficient evidence to warrant their continued detention.
The state, represented by the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Mr. Abiodun Aikomo, opposed the bail applications.
After listening to the arguments presented by both sides, Justice Olawoyin adjourned the ruling on the bail applications to 13th January.
