Tenant’s Decomposing Body Found in Ogun Apartment

Operatives from the Ogun State Police Command have raised the alarm following the discovery of the swollen body of 45-year-old tenant Tolulope Olusanya at Madojutimi Abiola Way, Abeokuta, on the night of Monday, 7th January.

The landlord of the property, Adebesin Adebayo, had gone to the Kemta Police Division to report the strong stench emanating from Olusanya’s apartment. Adebayo, along with other residents, suspected that Olusanya may have taken his own life.

Confirming the incident, the police spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, stated: “Worried about her well-being, the landlord went to her apartment and noticed a strong, unpleasant odour coming from inside. The door to her apartment was locked inside, prompting him to raise the alarm.”

Upon receiving the report, Odutola said detectives from the Kemta Division arrived at the scene and found that the apartment remained locked, with the foul odour still coming from the window.

“The officers broke into the apartment and found Olusanya’s body lying on the bed, swollen, suggesting that she had been deceased for some time,” Odutola added.

She explained that efforts to transport the body to a nearby hospital were delayed due to a lack of medical equipment to prevent the risk of infection.

Odutola also noted that attempts to contact Olusanya’s family or collaborate with local health authorities were unsuccessful, stating, “No immediate relatives could be reached.”

The area was cordoned off as police detectives continued their investigation into the incident.
