Notorious Bandit Leader Kachalla Dogo Isah Killed in Clash with Rival Faction

Kachalla Dogo Isah, a notorious bandit leader responsible for a series of brutal attacks in Kaduna State, has reportedly been killed in a violent confrontation with a rival faction of repentant bandits.

The clash occurred on 7th January 2025 in Kachia Forest when Dogo Isah and his gang attempted to steal cattle from a camp led by the repentant bandit leader, Kachalla Musa.

The ensuing conflict rapidly escalated, ultimately resulting in the death of Dogo Isah. This information was shared on X by Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region.

Dogo Isah was infamous for his reign of terror in the Kachia and Kajuru local government areas, where he and his gang inflicted widespread devastation on local communities. He was also the cousin of Tukur Sharme, another prominent bandit leader who was killed in a similar internal conflict in September 2024.

According to Zagazola, Dogo Isah and two of his gang members were killed during a fierce gun battle with Kachalla Musa’s group.

Kachalla Musa and his faction had recently agreed to a peace initiative proposed by the Kaduna State government and security agencies, following a meeting with local stakeholders in Tsohon Gaya village, Chikun LGA. This initiative encourages former bandits to surrender and renounce their violent activities.

Although Dogo Isah was offered the opportunity to participate in this peace initiative, he refused and continued his criminal activities, including cattle rustling and violent assaults.

His group was reportedly behind several high-profile attacks in the region, including the killing of members of the 305th Artillery Demo Regiment in Makaranta Forest, Kagarko LGA, and an officer of the disbanded Sect 4 OPWP near Gadan Mallam village on the Abuja-Kaduna Road in 2022.

In a more recent attack on 5th January 2025, Dogo Isah’s group ambushed Nigerian Navy personnel at a checkpoint in Kujama, killing two Navy officers and stealing their AK-47 rifles.

While the death of Dogo Isah is considered a significant blow to insurgent activities in Kaduna, it has also raised concerns among the members of Kachalla Musa’s recently repentant group.
