On Thursday 9th January 2025, at approximately 00:10, suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked the Nganzai Police Division in Borno State.
During the attack, a fierce gun battle erupted between the terrorists and police officers. Tragically, two officers were killed when hand grenades thrown by the terrorists exploded near their shelter tent.
The Borno State Commissioner of Police, CP Yusufu Mohammed, visited the Nganzai Police Division to assess the situation. He praised the bravery of the officers who repelled the attack and offered his condolences to the families of the deceased.
The police recovered two hand grenades at the scene of the attack. The bodies of the fallen officers were taken to the State General Hospital in Maiduguri.
The police spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kennel Daso, confirmed the incident and reassured the public that order had been restored. He urged citizens to remain calm and report any emergencies to the following numbers: 0806 807 5581 and 0802 347 3293.
