Dozens of people were killed in an ambush by gunmen in Baure village, Katsina State.
The victims, returning from a condolence visit in Batsari, were from several local government areas in the state, including Charanci, Safana, Kurfi, and Kaita.
According to local residents, the attack occurred on a market day, allowing the gunmen to ambush the mourners as they returned home.
According to report from DailyTrust, at least 15 people were killed on the spot, with some bodies burned. The exact number of casualties remains uncertain, with some residents claiming over 25 deaths and others still unaccounted for.
The spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the attack and stated that they are gathering further information.
