Two Male Workers Rescued In Lagos After Falling Into Diesel Reservoir

Two men have been rescued after falling into a diesel reservoir following an industrial accident at the Ikosi Oregun area of Lagos State. 

It was learnt that the incident happened on Saturday morning. 

Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) made this known in a statement on Saturday, 11th January, noting that both victims sustained severe conditions.

Oke-Osanyintolu noted that the agency responded swiftly to a distress call received at 10:37 a.m. through the state’s 767/112 Emergency Toll-Free Lines. By 10:47 a.m., adding that the agency’s Tiger Response Team had arrived at the scene to commence rescue operations.

The statement reads in part; “Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the victims accidentally fell into the diesel reservoir while working. A second man, in an attempt to rescue the first, also fell into the tank.

“Both victims sustained severe conditions. Emergency responders from LASEMA and the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) provided first aid, including CPR, at the scene. The men were then rushed to the hospital for further medical attention.

“Emergency personnel, including teams from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and LASAMBUS, secured the scene and conducted a thorough assessment to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“Further updates on the victims’ recovery and preventive measures will be provided as investigations continue. 

LASEMA, confirmed the agency’s ongoing commitment to ensuring public safety and addressing emergencies promptly.
