Two nurses were abducted and sexually assaulted at Chuene Clinic outside Polokwane in South Africa in the early hours of Friday 10th January.
The incident occurred at around 12:30 a.m. when a suspect gained entry to the clinic premises through the guardroom, overpowering three security guards.
The assailant forced a female guard to accompany him into the clinic where he found two nurses, aged 47 and 28. He robbed them of their mobile phones and then took them to a nearby bush.
“He instructed them to undress and sexually assaulted them before fleeing the scene,” said police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba. “The nurses managed to return to the clinic and were transported to hospital for treatment.”
Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe has condemned the attack and ordered a dedicated team to swiftly apprehend the perpetrator.
