Ifeanyichukwu Eze, Personal Assistant to the Deputy Speaker of the Ebonyi House of Assembly, Mr. Chinedu Onah, tragically lost his life in a road accident on the Abakaliki-Enugu Expressway.
According to a statement from Chinonso Nwede, Secretary of the Deputy Speaker’s Legislative Aides Forum, the accident occurred while Eze was returning from a funeral wake with three other legislative aides and one other person.
While four other individuals involved in the accident are still receiving treatment, Eze succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
The accident occurred following a funeral wake for a friend who had lost his mother on 11th January. Eze’s colleagues were preparing to celebrate his completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme and other milestones.
Eze, who lost his own mother at a young age, was described as a dedicated and hard-working individual. He served not only as a personal assistant to the Deputy Speaker but also as the Youth Movement Coordinator for Governor Francis Nwifuru in the Umuogudu Oshia Ward of Ohaukwu Local Government Area.
The statement expressed condolences to Eze’s family and prayed for the speedy recovery of the other accident victims.
