American singer-actor Jessica Simpson, 44, and her husband, 45-year-old former NFL player Eric Johnson, have announced their separation after 10 years of marriage.
Simpson shared the news in a statement to PEOPLE, saying: Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage. Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
The couple, who married in July 2014 after four years of dating, have three children together: daughters Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 12, and Birdie Mae, 5, and son Ace Knute, 11.
Johnson was seen without his wedding ring in November 2024, around the same time Simpson teased her “comeback” to music with a cryptic Instagram post showing her in a recording studio.
Simpson and Johnson first met in 2010 through a mutual friend and became engaged in November of that year after just six months of dating.
Before her marriage to Johnson, Simpson was previously married to fellow American singer Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006.
