Michelle Obama to Skip Trump’s Inauguration

Former US First Lady Michelle Obama has confirmed that she will not attend the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump on 20th January, marking the second time in two weeks that she will not participate in a gathering of former U.S. leaders and their spouses.

The announcement, made by the Office of Barack and Michelle Obama, stated that while former President Barack Obama will be present at the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies, Michelle Obama will not be attending. No specific reason has been provided for her absence from the upcoming event.

Former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton will be in attendance, alongside their wives. Former First Ladies Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton will also join their husbands for the swearing-in ceremony at the Capitol.

The absence of Michelle Obama is notable, especially following her decision not to attend the state funeral of former President Jimmy Carter the previous week. At the funeral, former Presidents Trump, Obama, Bush, and Clinton, along with their spouses, were present, with Michelle Obama being the sole notable absence.
