A 54-year-old man, Adelani Oriyomi, was apprehended by the Ogun State So-Safe Corps while allegedly attempting to exhume a human skull from a grave in Kere, Obada-Oko, on 21st January 2025.
According to a statement released by So-Safe Corps Commander Soji Ganzallo, officers on patrol observed suspicious activity on a plot of land behind a church. Oriyomi, a resident of Kere, initially attempted to evade the officers but was later apprehended while digging the grave.
During interrogation, Oriyomi confessed to having exhumed a skull from another grave on January 18, 2025. He admitted that he was seeking a second skull for a ritual known as “Osole,” believed to bring wealth.
Oriyomi further confessed to being a serial offender, revealing that he had previously sold several human skulls. He disclosed prior convictions for similar offences, resulting in imprisonment.
The So-Safe Corps handed over Oriyomi and the recovered skull to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.
