A nurse who sparked controversy two months ago by calling Lagos a “smelly place” has secured a new position overseas. The move comes after she faced online harassment and threats following her initial tweet.
On 10th November 2024, the nurse tweeted that Lagos is a “smelly place.” This angered some Yorubas claiming to be from Lagos, who complained to the state governor that a “foreigner” who had been given a job ahead of locals was now insulting the city. Some even went so far as to identify her workplace and threatened to report her to her employers.
Fearing for her job, the nurse later apologised on X. However, an X user living abroad offered her a position with their employer. Today, she shared a photo of herself at the airport, passport in hand, confirming her departure from Nigeria.
The X user who facilitated her move also expressed their congratulations.
