A gang of Nigerian nationals has been arrested by Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior for an armed robbery at a currency exchange office in the Al-Mahboula area.
The gang stole an estimated KD 4,600 (USD 16,500) in foreign currencies.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the Ministry stated that the robbery was meticulously planned. The gang had been surveilling the office from nearby rooftops and had concealed their vehicle’s license plates with metal plates during the robbery.
Following an investigation, detectives located and apprehended one of the suspects. He confessed to monitoring the office and informing his accomplice. The accomplice was subsequently detained in the Aswaq Al-Qurain area.
A search of the accomplice’s residence yielded the stolen funds.
Both suspects have been referred to the public prosecution for legal action.
