Two Suspected Cultists Arrested for Attempted Murder in Edo State

The Edo State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity, Aigbomian Daniel (20) and Innocent Okiomisi (32), for the attempted murder of a rival cult member, Egiegbor Lucky (29).

The incident occurred on 14th January in Irrua community, Esan Central Local Government Area. The suspects allegedly trailed and shot at Lucky with the intent to kill him.

Lucky managed to escape and reported the incident to the Irrua Police Station. Following the report, the police apprehended the suspects.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the attack and their membership in the Eiye Confraternity. One locally made pistol and one live cartridge were recovered as evidence.

The Edo State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Thursday, 23rd January. He stated that the attack stemmed from an ongoing rivalry between cult groups in the area.

Yamu assured the public that the police are committed to curbing cult-related violence in the state and ensuring justice for the victim.
