Eight suspects have been arrested by officers from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command during a series of coordinated raids on locations suspected of drug-related activity across the Nigerian capital.
A police statement released on Thursday, 23rd January 2025, confirmed that 100 rounds of live 7.62 x 39mm ammunition and a significant quantity of illicit drugs were recovered during the operations.
According to the police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the raids were conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Unit as part of the command’s ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of all residents of the FCT.



The statement detailed the locations targeted, including SDP Junction in Gwagwalada, Lugbe Federal Housing, Wuse Zone 5, and AYA Roundabout. Suspects at these locations attempted to flee but were apprehended by police officers.
The recovered exhibits include 100 rounds of live ammunition, a substantial amount of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, and a significant quantity of other illicit drugs.
The FCT Police Commissioner has urged members of the public to continue to cooperate with the police by promptly reporting any suspicious activity.
