Premier League Roundup: Arsenal, Man City, and Liverpool Win as Bournemouth Crush Forest and Everton Edge Brighton

It was a mixed day for the top teams as Arsenal, City, and Liverpool all secured victories, while Everton and Bournemouth picked up crucial wins to move further from the relegation zone. Southampton and Ipswich continue to struggle near the bottom of the table.

Here’s the Saturday, 25th January round-up from the English Premier League:

Arsenal 1-0 Wolves
Despite a controversial red card for Myles Lewis-Skelly before halftime, Arsenal battled to a 1-0 victory at Wolves. Riccardo Calafiori’s goal in the 72nd minute after a red card for João Gomes secured all three points. Wolves fought hard but couldn’t break down Arsenal’s defense, with keeper David Raya making crucial saves. Arsenal stay second, six points behind Liverpool, while Wolves sit 17th.

Liverpool 4-1 Ipswich

Cody Gakpo starred with a brace and an assist as Liverpool dominated Ipswich 4-1 at Anfield. Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah were also on the scoresheet as Liverpool maintained their six-point lead at the top. Ipswich’s Jacob Greaves got a late consolation, but Liverpool’s superiority was clear throughout.

Manchester City 3-1 Chelsea

City came from behind to beat Chelsea 3-1 at home. Chelsea took an early lead after a mistake from new signing Abdukodir Khusanov, but Josko Gvardiol, Erling Haaland, and Phil Foden turned things around for Pep Guardiola’s side. Haaland’s cheeky chip and Foden’s breakaway goal sealed a much-needed win after City’s midweek loss in the Champions League.

Southampton 1-3 Newcastle

Alexander Isak’s brace guided Newcastle to a 3-1 victory at Southampton. After falling behind early to a Jan Bednarek header, Isak’s penalty and a curling finish gave Newcastle the lead. Sandro Tonali added a third, and despite a late disallowed goal for Southampton, the Magpies moved into the top four, while Saints remain bottom of the table.

Brighton 0-1 Everton

Everton secured a vital 1-0 win at Brighton with Iliman Ndiaye scoring from the penalty spot. Brighton dominated possession, but Everton’s resolute defending held firm. Brighton struggled to convert chances, and the result leaves them in ninth, while Everton moves seven points clear of relegation.

Bournemouth 5-0 Nottingham Forest

Bournemouth ran riot with a 5-0 demolition of third-placed Nottingham Forest. Dango Ouattara bagged a hat-trick, while Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo also scored. Forest, unbeaten in nine matches, were completely outplayed as Bournemouth extended their unbeaten streak to 11 games.
