Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed Calls for Wike’s Resignation from PDP Over Alleged Betrayal and Anti-Party Activities

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has called for the resignation of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to alleged anti-party actions.

According to Governor Mohammed, Wike has already been serving the interests of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and it would be more appropriate for him to officially join the APC.

In his criticism, Governor Mohammed accused the FCT Minister of attempting to undermine his reputation, labelling such efforts as both desperate and ineffective. He further stated that Nigerians are aware of the purported façade being put up by Wike.

The Bauchi governor, speaking on Thursday, described Wike as a “transactional politician” whose allegiance is driven solely by personal ambitions, shifting as it suits him.

In response, Wike, through his media aide Lere Olayinka, swiftly fired back, calling Governor Mohammed a greedy politician. Olayinka advised the governor to stop using the ministerial appointment by President Bola Tinubu as a scapegoat for his own inability to provide effective leadership as the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.

Governor Mohammed, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, dismissed Wike’s attack as reckless, deceptive, and indicative of his diminishing political relevance. The Bauchi governor accused Wike of repeatedly betraying former political allies, citing figures such as Senator John Azuta Mbata, Dr. Peter Odili, and former Governor Chibuike Amaechi as examples of those who had fallen victim to Wike’s alleged disloyalty.

The statement further condemned Wike’s approach as a “use-and-dump” style of politics, which, according to Governor Mohammed, contributed to the internal crises within the PDP. It was claimed that Wike had played a role in orchestrating the downfall of several party leaders, including Uche Secondus and Iyorchia Ayu.

The statement reads: “Let Nyesom Wike be reminded that while he lives in a delusional self-created universe of seeing splits and factions in the PDP the party is resolute and united apart from a few turncoats and quislings led by him who are desperately committed to weakening it for the benefit of the APC whose willing tool and favoured foot soldier he has become.

“Under Sen Bala Mohammed’s vibrant and visionary leadership the PDP Governors Forum and the party’s core organs including the BOT are working quietly and assiduously in cleaning the party of Wike’s treachery and perfidy.

“Such a path of perdition is not the portion of genuine PDP members who are working tirelessly to retire the APC in 2027- the very party, with its failed policies, that Wike has vowed to help win re-election in 2027.

“Wike’s antics cannot detract Bala Mohammed’s record. His outburst is the desperate cry of a man whose political relevance is fading.

“The time for noise making is over; it is time for governance. Let Wike reflect on his conduct and do the honorable thing: RESIGN AND ALIGN FULLY WITH THE APC he so eagerly serves. Until then his words will remain as hollow as his loyalty.”
