Bill Gates: Divorce Is “The Mistake I Regret the Most”

Bill Gates, 69, has admitted that his divorce from Melinda Gates, 60, after 27 years of marriage will always be the thing he regrets most in his life.

In an interview with the Times of London published Saturday, he acknowledged, “I’m more cheerful now,” but added that the unravelling of his marriage is “the mistake I most regret.”

While acknowledging potential other failures, the Microsoft co-founder emphasized that the divorce “is at the top of the list.” He explained, “There are others, but none that matter. The divorce thing was miserable for me and Melinda for at least two years.”

Despite the difficult separation, Bill Gates and Melinda have maintained a friendly relationship. They both are now dating other people.

“Melinda and I still see each other – we have three kids and two grandchildren, so there are family events,” he said. “The kids are doing well. They have good values.”

The billionaire also reflected on how his marriage provided grounding during the creation of his trillion-dollar company.

Bill and Melinda married in 1994 and share three children: Jennifer, 28, Rory, 25, and Phoebe, 22. They announced their separation in May 2021, having been separated for a year prior to the public announcement.
