Betty Otimenyin officially assumed duty as the first female Commissioner of Police in Edo State on Monday 27th January.
Arriving at the Police Command headquarters, she was welcomed with a guard of honour.
Otimenyin, the 49th individual to hold this position, succeeds Umoru Ozigi, who retired on Saturday 25th January.
A native of Edo State, she expressed her commitment to reducing crime rates and addressing key issues such as extortion within the police force. Otimenyin also pledged to prioritise the fight against violence against women and children.
A seasoned officer with over three decades of service, she previously served as Commissioner of Police in the Force Intelligence Department.
