A boy in Zizhong county, Neijiang, Sichuan Province, south-west China, caused a methane explosion by throwing a firework into a septic tank on Thursday, 30th January.
Video footage of the incident shows the boy running away immediately after tossing the firework, with the subsequent explosion sending debris and parked vehicles into the air.
While no casualties were reported, eight vehicles were damaged in the blast, according to Xinmin Evening News. Insurers estimate the total damage at approximately 285,000 yuan (£39,041).

Authorities located the boy within an hour of the incident, and police have launched an investigation, China Media Group reported.
