Ex-convict Arrested for Rape After Release from Prison

Men of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, have arrested a 55-year-old ex-convict, Ayodele Ijilakinro, for allegedly raping three women at different times after his release from prison.

Ijilakinro was paraded alongside 26 other alleged criminals by the State Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye. These individuals were apprehended across the state’s 18 local government areas within the past few weeks.

Ijilakinro had served a three-year jail term at Olokuta Correctional Centre for a similar rape offence and was released in February 2024.

In an interview with journalists, the suspect admitted to having sexual encounters with the women and specifically confessed to raping three of them. He claimed some encounters were consensual and that three of the six women who testified against him were not among those he forced.

He stated that he met most of the women he raped while travelling between Akure and Idanre. “I have raped three ladies. I gave some of them money,” he said.

Regarding his previous conviction, he explained that he was jailed in 2021 for sexually assaulting his neighbour. He added that he often took his victims to hotels, where they shared meals, drinks, and engaged in sexual activities.
