Seven people appeared in a Kwara State High Court in Ilorin on Monday, 3rd February, charged with the murder of Awesu Mojisola, a final-year student at Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa.
Ms Mojisola, who had graduated from the college three weeks prior, was allegedly lured to Ilorin by Happiness Adebayo and Timileyin Kolawole. Her body was discovered at a rubbish dump in the Warah community, Ilorin, between 8th and 9th August 2024.
Those charged include Ms Adebayo and Mr Kolawole (the prime suspects), Adebayo Adeniyi and Bukola Adeniyi (Ms Adebayo’s parents), and Adeoye Adeola, Lawal Aminat, and Peter Bulus (three hotel employees where Ms Mojisola was allegedly murdered).

The seven face six counts, including conspiracy, murder, concealing the death, destroying evidence, and disposing of the body. They are accused of conspiring to cause Ms Mojisola’s death on 9th August 2024.
The offences are allegedly contrary to and punishable under Sections 97, 221, and 167 of the Penal Code, CAP. P4, Laws of Kwara State, 2006, and Section 9 of the Kwara State Prohibition of Dealing in Human Parts Law 2018.
At Monday’s hearing, Kwara State Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Ayoola Akande, appeared with five other lawyers for the prosecution. Barristers F.A Ahmed and A.I. Orisankoko represented Ms Adebayo’s parents and the hotel workers.
However, the case was adjourned, and no pleas were taken, as Ms Adebayo and Mr Kolawole, the prime suspects, were without legal representation.
Judge Adebayo Yusuf remanded Ms Adebayo and Mr Kolawole in custody and adjourned the case until 24th February 2025, for proper arraignment.
Ms Adebayo and her parents are accused of conspiring to conceal the death and destroy evidence, offences under the Penal Code Law of Kwara State, 2006.
Mr Adeola, Ms Aminat, and Mr Bulus are accused of conspiring to dispose of Ms Mojisola’s body at a rubbish dump along Warah Road, Ilorin, an offence under the Kwara State Prohibition of Dealing in Human Parts Law, 2018.
