Troops of Sector 4, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), operating under Operation Golden Peace, have arrested a suspected gunrunner and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State.
According to intelligence sources relayed to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the troops set up a snap checkpoint along the Jos–Barkin Ladi highway at Kassa community around 12:40 a.m. on February 3, 2025.
During the operation, an ash-colored Peugeot 206 with Plateau State registration number BLD 322 ST was intercepted. Upon seeing the troops, the occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled. Troops pursued and apprehended one suspect, identified as 25-year-old Mr. Joseph Davou.
A search of the abandoned vehicle yielded the following items:
- One AK-47 rifle (serial number 06536)
- One K2 Daewoo assault rifle (serial number 063991)
- One AK-47 magazine
- One K2 magazine
- 20 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
- 20 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition



The suspect and recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation. Authorities are continuing efforts to locate and apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate.
