Video: Plane Collides with Bus in Sao Paulo After Failed Emergency Landing

A light aircraft has crashed into a bus in Sao Paulo, Brazil, reportedly while attempting an emergency landing on a street.

The incident occurred around 7:20 am local time (11:20 am West Africa Standard Time) in Barra Funda, western Sao Paulo.

The plane, identified by local media as a King Air F90, reportedly departed from Campo de Marte airport at approximately 7:15 am, en route to Porto Alegre. Just five minutes later, it attempted the emergency landing, colliding with the bus. The aircraft can reportedly carry up to eight passengers.

Witnesses, speaking to Globo, reported hearing an explosion and seeing a large plume of black smoke. Joao Lucas da Silva Amaral told TV Globo that the plane struck a tree, causing kerosene to spill out before the aircraft lost altitude and crashed.

Fortunately, there were no passengers on the bus at the time of the crash, according to the fire department. However, it remains unclear how many people were on board the plane, and no information about injuries has been released.

The cause of the emergency landing and subsequent crash is currently unknown. Police and the Brazilian Air Force are investigating the incident.

Sao Paulo’s Secretary of Public Security, Guilherme Derrite, confirmed the crash in a social media post, stating that emergency teams were on the scene.

“Our teams are working on the crash of a twin-engine plane on Av. Marques de Sao Vicente, in Sao Paulo. The Fire Department controlled the flames,” he wrote.

“Teams from the Military Police, Civil Police, and Technical-Scientific Police are also supporting the incident.”
