Anambra Man Arrested After Fatal Family Row Over Food

Tragedy struck the Adegbe Village in Abagana, Anambra State, on Friday, 7th February, when a dispute over household provisions turned fatal.

Anthony Kosisochukwu Okafor, 37, is now in police custody following the death of his 45-year-old brother, Emmanuel Okafor.

Police officers from the Abagana Division, alongside members of the AVG, apprehended the suspect. According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police command’s spokesperson, the brothers’ argument escalated, resulting in Kosisochukwu striking Emmanuel in the chest with a stick. Despite being rushed to hospital, Emmanuel succumbed to his injuries.

SP Ikenga expressed deep concern over the incident, highlighting the devastating consequences of domestic disputes. He stressed the critical need for families to find healthy and constructive ways to manage conflict and emotions, preventing such irreversible outcomes.

The case has been moved to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka. Upon completion of the investigation, Anthony Kosisochukwu Okafor will face charges in court.
