Super Bowl Halftime Protester Banned for Life After Palestine Flag Display

A protester who waved a Palestinian flag during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show has been banned for life from NFL stadiums and events.

During Sunday’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, the man was filmed waving the flag, which had the words “Gaza” and “Sudan” written on it, while standing on the GNX car used by Lamar. He then jumped off the platform and ran around the lower level for about 45 seconds, evading dancers, before being tackled by security and carried off.

The NFL released a statement commending security for their swift action, noting that the individual was part of the 400-member field cast and had hidden the flag on his person. The league also stated that no one involved in the production was aware of the individual’s intent. Roc Nation, the halftime show’s production company, confirmed that the protest was unplanned and not part of any rehearsal.

New Orleans police are currently investigating whether the individual will face charges, according to CBS News.

This incident follows recent controversial remarks suggesting the U.S. should exert greater control over Gaza.
