The Anambra State government has shut down a shrine in Umuofor village, Ojika, in the Ihiala Local Government Area.
The shrine, operated by Ekene Igboegbueze, who claims to be a native doctor, was allegedly used to offer supernatural paths to wealth.

Ken Emeakai, Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, led a team to the shrine and explained that the closure followed complaints from the Okija community regarding Mr Igboegbueze’s alleged illegal activities.
The government also cited an online video in which Mr Igboegbueze claimed to perform rituals such as “Oke ite,” “Yahoo Plus,” and “Awele,” which violate Anambra State Homeland Security Laws.

The government has also seized properties acquired by Mr Igboegbueze, believed to be proceeds from his alleged illicit activities. Items found at the shrine will be subjected to forensic analysis, the results of which will inform further government action.
Chinenye Ihenko, Director of Operations for the Agunechemba Security Outfit, expressed concern about the rise of fake native doctors and pastors, stating that they promote a dangerous “get-rich-quick” mentality. He urged young people to avoid such individuals, warning that they are deceptive.
