CDS Christopher Musa and Other Military Officials Denied Canadian Visas for Veterans’ Event

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Christopher Musa, along with several senior military officials, were denied Canadian visas to attend an event honouring veterans injured in battle.

Musa explained, “Yesterday, I was meant to be in Canada. There’s an event to honour our veterans, those that were injured during battles, and we were meant to be there, we were invited with our team. Half has gone and half has been denied.”

He made this statement during the National Association of the Institute for Security Studies (AANISS) annual lecture on Thursday, but did not specify the reasons behind the visa denial for him and his colleagues.

Musa’s revelation followed the case of retired Nigerian police officer Martins Nwokolo, whose asylum application was rejected due to claims of corruption within the Nigeria Police Force, including extortion and bribery.

Earlier in February, it was reported that Nwokolo’s asylum request had been denied twice, and his attempt to have the decision reviewed was also rejected by Madam Justice Ngo of the Federal Court in Ontario, Canada.
