Police in Ogun State have launched an investigation after the dismembered body of a woman was discovered in a sack in Ogijo community.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the discovery of the body on 16th February 2025.
According to a police statement, the Ogijo Police Division received a report at approximately 3:10 pm from the Chairman of Sedu 2 Community and two other residents, who had found the body on a fenced farmland. The victim was described as light-skinned, estimated to be in her thirties or older, and the body was relatively fresh.
Detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), went to the scene and found the woman’s body, which was headless and missing both hands, wrapped in a sack.
Police believe the body was dumped at the location. The scene was cordoned off, and the remains were taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, for preservation and further forensic examination.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered a full and immediate investigation to find those responsible for the crime. He also appealed to parents and guardians to discuss safety with their children, stressing the importance of vigilance and community involvement in crime prevention.
