A 23-year-old man, Solomon Fabiyi, has been arrested in Ekiti State, Nigeria, on suspicion of attempting to use his young nephew, Jomiloju, for money rituals.
Fabiyi was apprehended by police on 14th February 2025.
During questioning, Fabiyi, originally from Kwara State but born in Ekiti State, reportedly confessed that he was advised by a native doctor to provide a person for a ritual. He claimed the native doctor assured him the person would not die, but would suffer from a lifelong illness.
Fabiyi stated that he chose his nephew, intending to provide him with education and a “good life” while he, Fabiyi, would benefit financially from the ritual.
He lives with Jomiloju’s mother and helps care for the child.
Police spokesperson Sunday Abutu confirmed the arrest, stating that Fabiyi confessed to the crime and has been arraigned in court.
